Winter Youth Retreat

Maybe the whole family can’t make it for the Winter Family Getaway at JOY this year, but your teen would like to get away with other teenagers for a weekend of fun!
Campers will stay in Cedar Lodge with cabin leaders for the weekend. Our team will be running a program for teens throughout the weekend with chapel times, fun activities, hangout times, and lots of outdoor fun.

Bio: Jeff and his family have served at Joy Bible Camp ever since his oldest son joined the summer mission team as a lifeguard in 2017. Since then, Jeff and Jacqueline have helped with staff care, the dining hall or anywhere they were needed – although his preference is driving the boat and dragging kids on tubes across the lake. Jeff is the Senior Pastor at Garrison Road Church in Fort Erie.

Bio: Karen York is a wife and mother to three adult children and more importantly, grandmother to four. She is married to Hal York who serves as Pastor at Hastings Park Bible Church in Belleville Ontario. Karen is passionate about teaching the Bible to women and has been teaching, speaking and serving in women’s and children’s ministries for over 40 years.

Speaker: Fred Reid
Bio: Born in rural Newfoundland, Pastor Fred Reid grew up with the ocean out the front window, and woods out the back. It was in this small fishing village where Fred first encountered Jesus and heard the call to full-time ministry with The Salvation Army. With a heart ablaze for seeing people experience the love of God, Fred has dedicated his life to spreading the gospel and empowering congregations to embrace their divine purpose. Fred, his wife and their two girls currently live in Newmarket, where they serve as Head Pastors at Northridge Community Church. Fred is an avid fisherman, and hunter, and enjoys being in the great outdoors where he continues to experience the presence and peace of God.

Speaker: Len Friesen
Bio: Len Friesen is the National Director of Legacy Coalition Canada (LCC). LCC’s mission is to inspire a movement of empowered and intentional grandparents to engage in effective family discipleship so that future generations will know and follow Christ, and continue a Gospel legacy that outlives them. Len was born in Paraguay and moved to Canada at the age of nine. Len and his wife, Pam, have served as missionaries/Regional Directors with Awana for over 14 years. They live in Steinbach Manitoba, and have three children and four grandchildren. They are actively serving in both adult and children’s ministries at their local church and both have a passion for grandparent and children ministries.
