Summer staff opportunities

Looking for an exciting and worthwhile way to spend your summer? Why not join us at camp and become a part of our staff?

We need many motivated young people, aged 14 through college age to take on the challenge with us. Applications are available below as well as information on additional funding for those in grade 12+ below in the Staff Scholarship Fund section.

Available Positions and Job Descriptions:

Please apply for our 2018 Summer Team in January 2018.

Summer employment in junior level positions is for 10-weeks, starting Sunday, June 24th, 2018 thru Sunday, September 2, 2018.

Summer Staff  Fund:

The Summer Staff Fund is set up to allow students to earn money for post-secondary education while they serve at JOY. Eligible participants can ask friends and family to donate to the fund, to receive up to $3000 additional salary. Participants are staff members who are in Grade 12 or over who serve at JOY during the summer of the year the funds were collected.

To allow all donors, including parents and grandparents, to receive a charitable receipt for their gifts, donations can not be designated directly for that staff member, but will be disbursed from the pooled funds received evenly between all eligible staff members.

JOY will provide a cover letter and information for staff to send to their prospective donors. Funds may be raised until September 1, and will be disbursed at the end of the summer.

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12

412 Leadership Training is a unique 3-week leadership program that focuses on equipping youth to serve, love and lead like Jesus.

Throughout the 3 weeks, participants will develop leadership skills, go deeper in their relationships with Jesus and become equipped to serve others effectively. Through personal development, community living, outdoor adventure and leadership training our goal is to challenge young people to live out their faith in such a way that it transforms their world.

412 is designed to give a balance of classroom teaching & hands-on experience to engage the participants. The program offers opportunities to lead in JOY's camp programming as well as reach out to serve the local community.

Some of the topics covered will be personal growth and discipleship, facilitation skills, group dynamics/team building, campfire and program skills, cabin-leading expectations and challenges. Mature leaders will live in a cabin setting (and sometimes a tent!) with program participants. Successful participants in program will be considered for cabin leader and support staff positions at JOY in future, and will gain valuable leadership training for other ministries and opportunities as well.
