| July 17th - Family Camp Week 1 concludes
It's somewhat overcast at the moment... but it can do little to dampen the effects of a great week of Family Camp at JOY! Ken Taylror challenged us with messages from Ruth on redemption. It was great to have him with us for the week. YOU CAN LISTEN to Ken's messages on our new Sermons page for summer speakers, as well as download them for your convenience.
Brett Ullman spoke Wednesday night on the opposition we are faced with from the media and it's profound effect on our young people. Brett gave us a great deal to think about and was a wealth of knowledge matched with much wisdom for how to cope with this in our changing world.
The staff are in the rooms finishing up changeover day as I write this, soon to be done and able to enjoy some much needed and earned rest. We're seeing the benefits of their hard work each day of camp and I can honestly say that I'm proud of their servant hearts.
July 12th - The Summer Ensues!
JOY is in full swing! Summer is definitely here and our first week of camp was a great success. We had 72 young lives experience JOY and the "Fruits of the Spirit" last week during Explorer Camp. It was a week of great sunshine and great times.
JOY says a fond farewell to Dawn Berwick and Shane Johnson who have co-directed Explorer Camp now for six years and will hand over the reigns to the next directors, soon to be determined.
This week is our first Family Camp. Ken Taylor shared this morning at Chapel and will be with us all week. We have a super group of kids represented as well, seeing up to 20 in practically every age bracket! This promises to be a fantastic week!
June 2nd - Work Bee Successes!
We're getting there! Thanks to all who braved the black flies and made the trip to JOY for the May 28th to 30th weekend.
The grounds and gardens are much improved... the cabinets in Hillside are looking sharp with their new trim and cupboard doors, the trails have a nice new bridge in place near the Trailer Park loop trail and the Challenge Course is underway!!!
23 people in all were involved on these and other projects that are necessary to get camp into ship-shape before the end of the month. Although 'tis the season for blackflies, they were actually not that bad (this coming from the guy who WASN'T in the bush all day).
Now, on with the other preps... July will be here before we know it!
May 18th - Guy's Getaway Weekend!
What a time of enriching fellowship!

Another year of the Guy's Getaway here at JOY is over, with many great memories to share. Steve Brethour lead the 30-odd (some are more "odd" than others, Tim Greene!) men in examining our hearts and getting in touch with what really matters and challenged us all to be more aware, awake and alive in Christ than we can when we try it on our own. Thanks Steve for your honesty and great leadership over the weekend.

Our golfers enjoyed a great day on the greens near Apsley. Our fishermen had a blast pulling huge trout near Co Hill with a shore-line lunch to boot, and the ATV run enjoyed plenty of mud and a great camp cookout mid-trail!

It was a great weekend... and if you were here with us, thanks for being a part of it, now tell your friends about it. If you weren't with us... plan to register next year to share in experience!
Now, if I could just find the right deal on an ATV.....
See you next year!
